I am pleased to say I have successfully completed an Emotional Freedom Techniques Level Two Course and all training requirements as set forth by AAMET International.
Even though I have been using EFT in my practice since 2009 it was important to me to take this particular training because it was designed for trauma release.
The training was a total of four full days:
- two days for Level One, then three weeks later
- two days for Level Two
The trainers and team are very serious about understanding and using proper techniques.
The training was held at the Sandy Hook Fire Station in Sandy Hook CT. You may be wondering, what is the relevance? Why Sandy Hook, CT?
On December 17, 2012 in reference to the Sandy Hook School tragedy that had just taken place on the 14th Nick Ortner, a resident of Newtown CT and Co-Founder of The Tapping Solution posted a blog on The Tapping Solution site and he stated, “All I can think to do is mobilize in any way I can, to help those most deeply affected.”
That morning Nick and his brother Alex (also Co-Founder of The Tapping Solution and resident of Sandy Hook along with his wife and children), formed “The Tapping Solution for Newtown: Stress and Trauma Relief Project.” Dr. Lori Leyden, who you might recognize from her incredible work with genocide victims in Rwanda, agreed to fly in from California to lead the support team.
In the past 19 months much has been accomplished and much more is in progress.

Their mission has grown from building the first of its kind community-based humanitarian aid relief effort in Newtown to global efforts using EFT/Tapping to transform and heal our world.
They created EFT for Trauma Certification Training through AAMET with internationally respected trainers Jondi Whitis and Jade Barbee for licensed mental health and health-care professionals, healing arts practitioners and coaches, as well as individuals interested in strengthening their self-care practice.
Tapping is a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupressure and Modern Psychology that works to physically alter your brain, energy system and body all at once.
The practice is simply tapping with your own finger tips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and emotions.
As Dr. Dawson Church states, “Acupoint tapping sends signals directly to the stress centers of the mid-brain, not mediated by the frontal lobes (the thinking part, active in talk therapy). Because EFT accesses stress on both physical and emotional levels at the same time, he adds, “EFT gives you the best of both worlds, body and mind, like getting a massage during a psychotherapy session.”
One of the reasons why EFT is so effective is because of its’ ability to effect the amygdala, an almond shaped part of your brain that initiates your body’s negative reaction to fear through the process of flight or fight.
I am so passionate about EFT because I know it works. Many of my clients have gotten relief from life long emotional traumas.
I personally use EFT on a daily basis to get myself unstuck from a state that I don’t want to be in to a more resourceful state.
People set up sessions with me for a variety of reasons but the bottom line is usually because they are fed up with not living life to the fullest; somehow some way they have gotten stuck and they are ready to get their life back into full swing.
EFT/Tapping enables us to release the “stuckedness” – to literally get Emotional Freedom.
