Why hypnosis works
Memory is “state dependent.”
This means that how you feel while doing one activity (like studying or practicing an instrument) impacts how well you will do when it’s time to perform (like taking an exam or a recital) based on how you are feeling at that time.
For example, if you’re relaxed, comfortable and confident while studying but freaked out while taking an exam, you won’t be able to remember what you studied because your emotional “states” would be mismatched.
So the goal of hypnosis is to help you remain calm and relaxed when it’s time for you to take your exam.
How hypnosis works for test taking
Through hypnosis I help you in three specific ways to be more comfortable while taking a test.
First, we identify the limiting thoughts you may be thinking during an exam which creates blocks to your success. We then remove those limiting beliefs, which will enable you to become increasingly confident in your ability to do well on exams.
These become new habits and patterns of emotional response.
Second, I help you better understand how your subconscious learns and how it stores everything for the right time of its retrieval.
Third, I teach you the easy to use skills of self-hypnosis that support you in reducing physical and emotional tension prior to test taking. You actually will have the full experience of this in your session!
And I provide you with take home reinforcements to strengthen what we have done in your sessions in the office.
