EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques, (also known as Tapping) are just that! It is a simple technique which allows us to get emotionally free.
The proof is in the pudding.
BTW… I love rice pudding with cinnamon, YUM! I digress, once again.
Yes, we can use EFT to get back on Focus.
In a recent complimentary phone consultation, my prospective client mentioned he wanted to use hypnosis for weight loss. We chatted and he revealed what he thought to be the root to his over eating. His father passed away a couple years ago.
We chatted a bit more and Rick (not his real name) and I coordinated a date and time for him to come in after work for his first session.
When he came into the office I was a little surprised to see a tall, slender built man in his mid 30’s.
His father was everything to him; Dad, best friend, mentor, the 4th wheel on what has become a 3 wheel relationship, sports comrade, you name it this man was it.
In only 3 months time from diagnosis he was gone from this earth forever. Rick and his family were devastated every step of the way. No longer any steps to take, no longer any gaps to fill, no longer any hope to massage.
Simply at a dead stop with raw devastation and not knowing what to do with it.
“It” became the elephant in the room that nobody talked about. “It” became the thing to stick in the corner. “It” became the thing to attempt to dispel with excess food.
I began to gently instruct Rick as to where the tapping points were and asked him to just tap on them with me. I watched this young man’s countenance begin to relax. I was relieved to witness that and once again to be reminded that tapping is a natural stress reliever.
Very quietly he asked, “Is this soothing?”
With a coy smile, I asked, “Is it soothing to you?”
“Yes.” was his reply and “Yes.” was my reply.
Rick is a father of two young children and I began to remind him of when they were infants and they would cry or fuss and he would respond by picking them up, placing them to his chest and proceed to gently, rhythmically pat them on the back and how that would naturally soothe them.
I reminded him of all of the times he naturally gently, rhythmically patted his children on the back from infancy to their present ages and all of the times he naturally gently, rhythmically patted his wife on the back and all of the times someone naturally gently, rhythmically patted him on the back and how soothing it was and how soothing it continues to be.
We gently tapped through all of the thoughts and emotions he tried to stuff in regard to his father’s passing. All of the perceived guilt, and all of the questions that would never have an answer, and all of the frustrations, and all of the pain of the whole experience and the emptiness and the bottomless void within his very soul.
We sat in the weight of grief.
“I feel so heavy. I don’t have words to describe it except I feel so heavy.” Rick was so weighed down he could barely speak.
I too felt heavy. I felt like my torso was locked into a steel vest. “Grief is heavy. We are sitting in the feelings of grief. In a few moments would you like to feel light?”
Rick looked at me almost as if thinking it would be impossible to get out of this heavy feeling. He nodded his head yes.
Eyes closed, fully supported in the recliner.
Hypnosis is many things but simply it’s focused relaxation. Focused on my voice, eyes closed creating a relaxed state.
I invited Rick to feel the warmth of the sun on his skin, to notice billowy clouds scattered across a beautiful blue sky and to smell the scent of pure freshness from the cool breeze. I lead him to a castle where he found his own private healing pool; he rested his head as his body absorbed the healing of these powerful waters and he found that he could just let go, just relax mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, nothing to do but just relax.
In that alternated state of hypnosis, Rick was able to reconnect with his inner man, some people call it your gut. That part that remains pure, of a higher mind, the source of your greatest knowledge and wisdom, that part that enables us to overcome whatever we need to overcome.
The way out is through and that is the part that sees us through it so we can get the hell out of it as quickly as possible. Well knowing the next obstacle will be there waiting but again, in this human experience on planet earth.
And so we embrace that part of us. That part of us that knows what is in the depth of our heart. That part of us that knows just what we need. That part of us that accepts and loves all parts of us.
“And Rick, it’s time to get out of the water now. Now instilled with a sense of personal empowerment. A sense of peace. A sense of knowing all is well and accepting life is unfolding just as it is. When I get to the number 5…your eyes will open…refreshed and renewed…knowing indeed change has taken place on a deep deep level.”
“Joann, that was bizarre! I can’t describe it! I feel lighter! The pit isn’t there anymore! I felt my father! It was weird!”
And such is the beauty and absolute freedom of experiencing emotional freedom techniques and hypnosis.
You don’t have to go it alone…
