An Interview with Sue Brown of Purple Pantry Boxes
Recently I had the joy and honor of interviewing my dear friend and incredible community leader, Sue Brown, on public access TV. Sue is the heart and founder of Purple Pantry Boxes, a grassroots initiative that provides 24/7 access to nonperishable food with no questions asked.
As a hypnotherapist and wellness advocate, I deeply admire Sue’s mission of meeting people where they are with dignity and compassion. Her work is a powerful reminder that healing and wholeness begin with feeling seen, safe, and supported.
During our interview, I asked Sue several questions to give viewers a deeper understanding of her journey and the heart behind Purple Pantry Boxes.
1. Please tell our viewers the Sue Brown Story associated with Purple Pantry Boxes?!
Sue shared how a personal experience during a difficult time inspired her to take action. What started as a single plastic storage type box placed locally has grown into a movement of kindness and community care. Her story is both humbling and deeply inspiring.
2. What is a Purple Pantry Box?
Purple Pantry Boxes are outdoor, weatherproof boxes stocked with food. They are open to anyone in need, available day or night, removing barriers and offering hope, one item at a time.
3. This is your 5th-year anniversary! Can you give us a recap of the past 5 years?
Sue took us through the journey of growth, community engagement, and expansion. From one box to over 20 throughout local neighborhoods, the ripple effect of generosity has been astounding. She also shared heartfelt stories of the people who have been touched by this work.
4. Tell us about community involvement?
Purple Pantry Boxes thrive because of the incredible community support; volunteers, donors, local businesses, and individuals who stock, clean, and care for the boxes. It’s a true community collaboration driven by empathy and love.
5. What does the future hold for Purple Pantry Boxes?
Sue is excited about expanding the reach of the organization, increasing partnerships, and creating educational outreach to continue building food equity and awareness in our communities.
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell our viewers?
Sue reminded us that small acts of kindness can change lives. She encouraged viewers to get involved, whether by donating items, hosting a box, or simply spreading the word. Every bit counts.
It was a joy to spotlight Sue Brown and the phenomenal work of Purple Pantry Boxes. Her commitment to compassionate action is a testament to the power of one person’s vision to create lasting change.
